The Indian Army has a total number of 65 regiments which are divided based on their skills and capabilities. The Indian Army is the pride of India.

The Work of Indian Army

Role Indian Army is mandated to safeguard National Interests from External Aggression and Internal Subversion.Basically in simple words The primary mission of the Indian Army is to ensure national security and national unity, to defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and to maintain peace and security within its borders.

How do soldiers protect our country

The military protects its country by defending it from the armed forces of enemies, if there is a war. The military can also be ordered by the government of the country to attack another country. The word "military" comes from Latin miles, warrior.

How to become a part of Indian Army

The Indian Army is one of the largest military forces in the world. The reported strength of Army stands at 1.4 million active personnel and 2.1 million reserve personnel. Every year around 60,000 personnel retire and the army holds up to 100 fresh hiring "rallies" to replace them. India's military is overhauling its recruitment process for personnel below officer rank. The aim is to deploy fitter, younger troops on its front lines.


The Indian Army offers a wide range of career choices and opportunities to explore along your journey making it a coveted and secure job for many young Indians. Despite being a developing economy, India has the 3rd-largest defense budget in the world. India is already the world's third-largest military spender, behind the US and China. 

Daily Exercises

The day starts off at around 5:30 in the PT field. There is a short run (2.4–3km) at a quick pace or a long jog (5km +). Upon reaching the field from the run, there are various apparatus on which different exercises are performed. There are well trained Physical Training Instructors(PTIs) who make the cadets do the exercises. Basically the exercises are divided into core, arms and leg exercises. Core exercises include crunches, sit ups, toe touch (hanging from a bar and rolling your knees upto the tummy and then roll the whole body back so as to touch the bar with the toes), plank, etc. Army exercises include push ups, chin ups, pull ups, vertical rope and tricep exercises. Leg exercises include duckwalk, stepping, jumping over short hurdles. The session ends with proper stretching of the whole body so as to avoid body pains.

Some requirements

Minimum education qualification is Matric /10th/SSLC or equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate and minimum 33% marks in each subject studied at matric/10th/SSLC level, without mentioning any specific subjects.

  • Age: Between 17-35 years old.
  • Medical, Moral, Physical: Medically and physically fit, and in good moral standing.
  • Citizenship: A U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a valid Green Card.
  • Education: A high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Test Score: A minimum score on the Army's placement exam.
